Celebrating 10 years of Harry and the Potters, our first summer mixtape comes on the same day that the boys are playing a sweet show in a castle on a hill. Or something like that. We tried to select a wide range of both classics and obscurities. We’re also proud to introduce a number of tunes NEVER BEFORE played by The Witching Hour! This month marks the ten year anniversary of Harry and the Potters. 10 years ago we played a show in our backyard for six people. Since then we’ve played over 600 shows around the world in libraries and bookstores and donut shops and backyards and soccer stadiums. This year we are going to have a very magical anniversary show to celebrate the amazing journey we’ve had as a band and the awesome adventures to come!
Here’s the deal! We want to do a show in the castle at the top of a mountain. This will be close. We will do a show on top of Big Blue Hill in Eliot Tower, a great stone structure that when we climb to the top will magically transform into Gryffindor common room. We will play an unplugged set so bring your singing voices so that we can sing along! Let the voices of a thousand wizards echo across the greater Boston metropolitan area. Sonorus!
The plan is to meet in a parking lot at the base of the hill. See the photo below for details.
We meet in the parking lot at 5:30 by the trail head. Then we will hike up to the top of the hill together. It’s not a long hike. Maybe 20 minutes if you’re quick. We only go up vertically a total 500 feet. Be sure to bring appropriate footwear! There will be trees and rocks and dirt and nature that we must travel through. 10 points if you can find Aragog.
When we get to the top we will enter Eliot Tower and climb the stairs and pretend that we are in Hogwarts. The staircase won’t actually move. At the top we will have a great view of Boston, our beloved home base. We will play a show at the of the tower and we can all sing along with two Harry Potters.
